Steps towards the Ideal Parish
Stage 1
Short Term Objectives: Parish As Communion of Small Groups
Step 1: Brotherhood and Sisterhood
Objective: To sensitize all people to brotherhood and sisterhood by reaching out to know each other
Step 2: Church as a Mystery of Communion
Objective: To sensitize all people to church as communion by accepting one another in our uniqueness and differences
Step 3: It’s Good to be in Small Group
Objective: To create small Christian communities by helping families and individuals to relate to other families and individuals
The stress in this stage is to foster reconciliation and healing.
Stage 2
Mid Term Objectives: Parish as a Communion of Faith Communities
Step 4: The Bible, Our Book
Objective: To make the Bible, the Word of God as the center of our lives
Step 5: Christ’s Teaching, Our Light
Objective: To make the teaching of Christ as the basis of our lives
Step 6: Christ’s Way, Our Model
Objective: To make the mind and heart of Christ the foundation of our being
The stress at this stage is on the Word of God, to make Christ and Model and Inspiration of our Lives
Stage 3
Final Objective: Parish As A Communion of BECs
Step 7: We are the People of God
Objective: To live out our identity as God’s people, people who put God first in our lives
Step 8: We live out our Baptism
Objective: To live out our identity as Christian people, people who submit our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ
Step 9: We live the Eucharist
Objective: To live out our identity as a Eucharistic people, people who are committed to other people.
The stress at this stage is on the Eucharist and the Sacraments making Christ the life, beginning and the end of our mission.
